Founding Partner, Charitable Development Consulting
Carol Kolmerten earned her BA in English from the University of Louisville and MA and PhD in American Studies from Purdue. She was a professor of English for 39 years at Hood College, where she was also the Academic Grants Officer. She has published five well received scholarly books (one of which was selected by Phi Beta Kappa as one of the twenty best books in the humanities in 1990). She has given over 200 conference papers and has been a keynote speaker in many countries (in Recife, Brazil, New Lanark, Scotland, and Reggio de Calabra, Italy, for example).
As the other founding partner of Charitable Development Consulting, Dr. Kolmerten joined Dr. Bigelow twenty years ago to work with many top non-profits in the country. She has particular expertise in expanding major gifts and endowment programs (often through the use of focus groups and case-based training), in grant and proposal writing, and in helping non-profits carry out a successful campaign.
